Imani Praise & Worship Team

The IMANI Praise and Worship Team exist to, exhort, edify and encourage the body of Christ within the church. Our Praise and Worship ultimate goal is to praise and worship God, not just from the pulpit but also with our lives so that ‘the words of our mouth and the meditations of our hearts are acceptable to the Lord’ (Psalm 19:14). Imani Praise & Worship Team aims to bring the congregation into the presence of God and set the atmosphere for the congregation to receive the preaching of the Word of God with the purpose of changing lives into the image of God (2 Chronicles 7:1, 2; 1 Peter 2:5; Romans 12:1 2; 2 Corinthians 3:18).  We fulfill the purpose of Imani Praise and Worship by:

  • Honoring our commitment to God through Prayer, study of the word of God and Obedience to the Word

  • Preparing ourselves daily to be usable by the Spirit of the Lord, Worship and Participating in the Church Worship meetings

  • Respecting and honoring the order in which God sets before us; God First, the Praise and Worship Leader, Pastor and all other church leadership.

The slogan of Imani Praise and Worship Team is, "Worship is to be our lifestyle - individually and corporately."

Imani Praise & Worship Team recognizes as lead worshippers that praise and worship is a ministry and it should be as natural as breathing. To praise and worship God is a deliberate act despite whatever the personal circumstances maybe. That is when praise and worship truly becomes a “sacrifice of praise” (Psalm 27:6). We vow to enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise and agree with the psalmist in Psalm 56:3-4:-"What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me."

Seven Points of Praise
Our icon above is a seven point star to remind us of the seven Hebrew words for praise. The seven Hebrew words are:

Yadah - to praise the Lord with extended hands as to agree and graceful gestures (Psalm 63:4; 134:2 & 141:2)

Tehillah - to sing your praise; give the Lord honor (I Chron 16:35; Isaiah 42:10, 12 & II Chron 20:22)

Todah - to extend your hands in adoration or acceptance with palms up (II Chron 29:31; Jeremiah 30:19; Psalm 26:7 & 50:14)

Halal - to boast, to rave, to show, to celebrate, to spin around; root word for Hallelujah (Psalm 104, 105 & 106)

Shabach - to shout, to command, to triumph, to glory, to address in a loud tone (Isaiah 12:6; Psalm 106:47)

Barak - to bless or praise by kneeling down (Psalm 95:6, I Chron 29:20 & Nehemiah 9:5)

Zamar - to play an instrument, to touch the strings (Psalm 21:3 & 66:2)
